I write.

News, features, promotional, copy, press releases, web – I deliver copy in whichever style, tone or format you want. Whether telling a story for customers or informing and engaging employees, I can shape messaging to suit audiences and hone it for the channels you use. I am both a journalist and a communications professional and write for print and online media. From tweet to thought piece to press release to video script, I understand what works and what doesn’t across communications channels. I get grammar.

 

I manage editorial projects.

I know how to organise projects so that they run smoothly and are delivered to time no matter how many stakeholders are in the process. Knowing how to work to deadlines, and knowing how to manage those that don’t comes easily to me, as does the capacity to work efficiently and without drama. I deliver global multi-stakeholder projects on time and on budget. If you do not have time to run a project, but need to deliver, consider outsourcing to me.

 

I understand.

I can interview and find the story. Whether talking to managers, engineers, employees or customers, I can cut through technical jargon and handle tricky topics. I take difficult subjects and render them understandable. I navigate through swathes of waffle and extract the kernel of interest. Key fields of knowledge gained from jobs in journalism and communications include energy production and distribution, building services, printing and transport/logistics. I am eager to bring my transferable skills to new industries.

 

Also… I design.

I know how to design and lay out pages from my time as a magazine sub-editor, so I understand pictures and words, and the subtle balance between them. Design skills translate to online pages. I am not a web expert, but I know what works visually and can navigate most content management systems.

 

I translate.

Je parle français couramment et donc je sais faire des entretiens en français. Je suis également à l’aise avec des textes en français. Je suis aussi traductrice (français vers anglais).

I speak French fluently so I am able to interview in French and English as well as using materials in French. I am also a French-to-English translator. I have also managed time-sensitive editorial translation projects.
